Islamic disciplines in science

The subject halal as we understand has come from Islamic Sharia. Therefore, Islam proposes morality in every field of scientific innovation. For example we can manufacture or produce medicines a package of biological products by ensuring safety and quality. In this case we have to categories, which are the subjects must be halal,  which are the subjects can be halal  and which are the subjects must not be branded as halal.

Actually halal is a proposal of the Quran.

From Quranic perspective we shall be able to propose a standard paradigm besides the Western paradigm, if we can cleanly clarify the concept of Halal.

 None of the thoughts of this world are self made , every thought has it's own deep foundation. Western modern scientific thoughts enriched from enlightenment which is deeply rooted in the Roman Christianity.The way Western mind tries to envisage science is different than oriental psyche.

It is important to find out what Islam seeks or how seeks in science and how much it differs from the western scientific notion.

 In this regard Islamic proposal is necessary to understand and furnish before the societies. The main foundation of Islamic proposals in this field is the concept of Islamic focus at the nature, unified code of knowledge and morality, righteousness and welfare.

There is a conceptual matrix in Islamic science. Quran is the foundation of this matrix. This matrix leads Islamic scientific culture and study.

There are ten ideas of this concept. Four among them are independent and the rest six are interdependent. There are three positive interdependent concepts and three negative concepts.

Four independent concepts are as follows:
1. Tawhid (Unity).
 2. Khalifah ( Trusteeship)
3. Ibadah ( Worship, actually the way worship is understood is not what Ibadah means, ibdah can be said as obeying Allah,s instructions, again instruction is not carrying the zest . It can be said wish of Allah.
Therefore Ibadah can be understood as mingling with the wish of Allah. Again there is a problem . It is not enough by saying wish of Allah.
It can be understood as , what Allan meant to human being
4. Ilam ( Knowledge).

All these four independent concepts are correlated with the six interdependent concepts.
Six interdependent concepts are:

Positive concepts:
 1. Halal (Praiseworthy).
2. Adal ( Social Justice).
3. Istislah ( Public Interest).

Negative concepts:
1. Haram (blameworthy)
2. Julum (Tyranny)

 3. Riya ( Waste).

When this matrix is transformed into morality then that morality integrated with these ideas brings scientific quests into a all pervading system. This matrix then constructs an institution those are viable at different fabrics of societies, consisting with informations , data and morality.

But a question may get raised is, how this morality can bring science and technology into an adjustable combined structure?

If we pay attention at the matrix we shall be able find out that the first concept is, Tawhid (Unity), its literal meaning is unity which is meant to be flourished within the ziggurat of the oneness of Allah. This unique unity with Allah becomes universal when this unification is manifested in the form of unity among human being , unity among men and nature and unity among knowledge and morality.

The concept of the entirety of unity conceives the concept of Khalifa ( Trusteeship). We mortal human being is not separated from Allah but we all are responsible for our every action even in the field and study of science and technology. Being a Khalifah or trustee we have no absolute right over the nature and other living things. We are given responsibilities to maintain nature and animal kingdom. We have no right to destroy or harm anything .This is the spiritual responsibilities entrusted on mankind on his journey in this earth.

According to this concept, knowledge cannot be gained by harming nature therefore, a scientist not merely an observer that is why seeking knowledge under the system is a road to worship , which road ll lead him to assimilate his soul, his unity and his responsibilities as a trustee. Understanding about Tawhid (Unity) and Khalifah or duties are Ibadah means ibadah to the one Allah.

Salah (Prayer) is attachment. Attachment between men and the creator is very much fruitful when men attache himself with all other creatures through the creator. Quest for knowledge is therefore a path to walk towards his creator. When such quest for knowledge in the field of science is an Ibadah then this Ibadah cannot destroy nature or life.

This knowledge shall not waste, shall not conduct tyranny, even shall not run at any thing which one is Haram. Islam shall encourage those fields of scientific studies those are for general people, for welfare. Above mentioned conceptual matrix is the only yardstick to measure Islamic science. No destructive innovation can be Islamic science.

 In the conceptual matrix it is not only about food or earnings or economics but all the activities those are praiseworthy (Praise worthy goal). That is why innovating nuclear warhead is haram in Islam because it is blameworthy , it is a road at tyranny, destruction of nature and life.

 That is why it is hard to find out any early Muslim scientist who was engaged in any kind of destructive innovation.

 Existing idea of law of nature has come from Jewish, Christian thoughts fertilized by imperial dictatorial phenomenon of that period. Without this phenomenal paradigm it was impossible for Europe to think about this law of nature.

Western stand on science is opposite to Islamic science. They want to subjugate nature. Try to imprison nature to benefit themselves. That's why western science is destructive. Western science and enlightenment flourished on the basis of Christianity.
